Cheetah Print Senna Skirt

Senna Tri Pic

I’m going to start by apologizing for the picture quality.  I should have taken them somewhere else instead of being back lit by the setting sun.  Anyway, this is a first for me!  A few firsts, actually.  The “main” first, is that it’s a pencil skirt.  I’ve never worn one and I never thought I would.  This leads me to the other first.

Next up, is that I was a pattern tester for the first time ever!  I really enjoyed it.  This is the skirt view from the Senna pattern by Lindsay Woodward.  I was sent this to test, but I didn’t know that I received the e-mail until 4 days before she requested our reviews and pictures since I was having issues getting my e-mails on my phone.  Luckily, I happened to be looking for something else and happened to find it on my computer.  By finding it so late, I was limited to what fabrics I had in my stash.  I had bought this metallic cheetah print ITY knit during a sale at Fabric Mart for $3.89 a yard, but unfortunately it is no longer on sale.  I had set it aside for a t-shirt or tank top or something, but it just spoke to me when I went stash shopping for the Senna.  I only had a yard of it, and the pattern called for a yard, so it was a perfect match!

When sewing it up, I went with a straight size 10 and it fit perfectly.  I *love* it when that happens!   The ruching uses 1/4″ elastic, and I think it worked perfectly.  I managed to use just 35″ (17.5″) per side.  I simply stretched it as far as it would go and at that point cut it the length of the skirt.  The whole thing, including printing and piecing the pattern, was maybe 2 hours, tops.  It was a great quick make!

When I went to take the pictures for this, I initially had a different shirt picked out.  I had to change it at the last minute, though, because it just would NOT stay tucked in.  This is when I remembered my Nettie Bodysuit by Closet Case Files.  I haven’t blogged about it yet because I had nothing to wear it with, but I think I may have some ideas soon!
