First Post!

Well, I have decided to once again have a re-do on my blog.  Partially because it was hacked and I couldn’t get back in to what existed, and part because I think focusing on one subject is just too restrictive for me.  I’m going with a more general approach this time around and post about whatever inspires me to actually post!  I still sell my soaps and other bath and body products on the side, and I’ll create an area for that specifically at some point and I’ll let you know when it happens, but you can always check for updates on my facebook page:  http://www.facebook.com/ARSoaps. Lately I’ve been doing more crochet and I’ve even created my first amigurumi! Ami’s are basically crocheted stuffed animals.  Both that I have done lately have been from the book Crocheted Softies: 18 Adorable Animals from Around the World by Stacey Trock.  It is full of cute little animals and it was hard to decide which ones to start with.

I ended up making Peanut the Elephant first:

I stuck with crocheted eyes because the new owner is not quite 2, but I think she loves her either way:

My next choice was Waddles the Penguin, who is at home on my desk for now:

So, after mastering my first two ami projects, this means that it is of course time for me to start designing my own patterns!  That’s how it works, right?  Does in my mind!  I have signed up for the Ravelympics 2012.  I am competing with Team Ami by Design and I’m trying to design something for the Toy Toss competition.  I’m trying to pick what animal to design but I can’t decide.  Here are my ideas so far:

  • Butterfly
  • Lion
  • Tiger
  • Unicorn

I basically have to have an idea in mind before the 2012 Olympics start then I have the length of the Olympics to cast on then finish my creation.  It won’t be that hard, right?  Beyond picking exactly what I’m making, anyway.  So, if you want to help me decide, cast your vote now.  If you choose “other”, let me know your idea in the comments!

What should I design for the 2012 Ravelympics?

I’ll try to keep you updated with my designs along the way and if I think it was a successful pattern, I may even offer it to everyone else!
